Why Barcelona players were all ready to 'reduce their salaries' just to bring Neymar back

Image
Gerard Pique's revelation that Barcelona player were ready to reduce their salary just to get Neymar back was shocking but yet, understandable.

In the past two season, Barcelona have been bruised, battered  and humiliated in the Champions League by AS Roma and Liverpool. The latter 'Liverpool' really crushed them, evident from the video footage of the players mourning and sulking in the dressing room.

The old guards Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquet and Gerard Pique knew at that moment they needed Neymar back.. They needed the man who massively helped in winning them they're fourth Champions trophy back in 2015.

If Neymar had played against AS Roma and Liverpool in the second leg of the Champions League semi final, Barcelona would've faced Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur in the final and won it.

Messi would've had 6 Champions League and not four.. Neymar is a world class player, a game changer and returning to Camp Nou will instantly make Barcelona favourite to win the treble.

"Neymar back to Barcelona? In football, anything can happen", Pique told El Larguero.

"We already told him: you're going to a golden prison. The doors are open for him {to return}.

"What's been said, that he wants to return to Barcelona, yes {it's true}. We told {Josep Maria} Bartomeu that if payments were deferred on contracts to adjust to financial fair play in order for Neymar to join, we'd do it.

"The relationship with the president has always been very good and we told him that we could change things so that Neymar could come. If we could help, we didn't have any problems. We tried to find a formula and the club said that it seemed good".

Neymar might have fallen out of love with PSG and its riches but, he has to honour his contract and remain in his golden prison..

Barcelona meanwhile will still reliant on Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez who frankly aren't strong enough to win Barcelona another Champions League.. Antoine Griezmann is good player but no where the level of Neymar.

It is about the money, of course. No chance. Absolutely no chance.  "The club is in a very good position. Image-w...
