Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has bruised aside the assertion that Pep Guardiola was playing mind games or attempting to have dig at Sadio Mane.
Guardiola is afraid of Sadio Mane knowing he is Liverpool's most dangerous player. The Senegalese international is the star man at Anfield, he has scored 10 goals with 6 assists in just 15 games this season..
He has contributed to 7 wins this season by either scoring the winning goal or having a hand in scoring the winner. Redknapp feels Pep Guardiola is very worried about Mane and the danger he will pose when City visit Anfield in the weekend.
"Hearing Pep Guardiola mention Sadio Mane and diving was surprising", Redknapp told Daily Mail.
"It is unusual to hear a manager say that about a rival player, but i don't think it was Guardiola trying to wind up Mane ahead of this Sunday's showdown at Anfield. It wasn't an attempt at mind games, or a deliberate dig. I believe Guardiola genuinely fear the threat of Mane".
Mane is Reds most improved player this season and key contribution have helped Liverpool remain unbeaten in the Premier League.
'The Manchester City manager has him on his mind. He knows the 27-year-old is now Liverpool's most important player. He is Jurgen Klopp's No. 1 man, as proven on Saturday. In the 65th minute against Aston Villa with the league leaders losing 1-0, Klopp took off Mohamed Salah.
"It was big call, but it paid off. Mane made sure he got his head to the ball, even as Villa's Jonathan Kodjia was trying to get his boot to it first. What a big, brave goal".
Pep Guardiola is yet to win a match at Anfield since he managerial career began nine years. He is yet to beat Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool at home.. In fact, Manchester City last won a match at Anfield in 2003.
