Manchester United captain Ashley Young will not be joining Inter Milan next summer neither will he be signing a pre-contract agreement with other clubs having be given a one-year contract extension. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a huge fan of the 34-year-old and feels his presence at the club will be useful to the younger players in the team. Although, the decision to keep him at the club haven't gone down well with fan who vented angrily on different social medias. Some of the tweet reads; "How the might have fallen.. " Another aggrieved post reads: "The more Man U fans want to escape the more the owners give them pain". Another reads: "This Ole and Co. are really taking us for granted. You can't be renewing Ashley's contract while there are real loopholes to cover.. it's getting out of hand". Sad ones goes this way: "Why, just why would you do that? He is part of the dead wood that they need clearing out "This
Another game, another victory, Liverpool have finally discovered how to grind out results even when playing way below average.
Palace were good to watch, they stopped Liverpool's swashbuckling football in the first 15 minutes of play and put them to the sword by scoring the first goal only for VAR {Video Assistant Referee} to choke it off.
The first half might have ended in stalemate but the second half saw Liverpool take the initiative through Sadio Mane whose snap shot evaded everyone and found the back of the net.
Wilfred Zaha did restore parity to keep Palace fans believing but in the dying minute, Firmino scored the winning goal to put Liverpool 2-1 up and eight points clear of Leicester City.
Here are the five things we learnt:
1. Van DIjk is a monster, he is a world class defender-
Where will Liverpool be without Van Dijk? Porbably in 7th place or most likely 10th. He won every aerial ball, tussled with Jordan Ayew and came out on top and was the reason Liverpool scored the winning goal having won the header which Firmino finished.
Van Dijk is top, top defender and Liverpool are really lucky to have him.
2. Jordan Henderson is way off pace and his passes are not too good-
Henderson is a good midfielder who works extremely hard to win back balls and defend with the rest of his teammates. His Achilles heels remains his creativity; we know he is no Steven Gerrard neither is he N'Golo Kante.. But what he offers to this Liverpool team can't be described by words alone. His industry and leadership is top notch and Jurgen Klopp knows this.
He might have struggled with orchestrating the game against Palace but is his game and we have to get used to it.
3. Defensively, Liverpool have to improve-
The Reds have played 13 Premier League games nad only 4 times have managed to keep a clean sheet. They have conceded 14 goals this season compared to 22 they conceded throught out last season.
Defensively, they're vulnerable and need to improve.
4. Crystal Palace is a good team and Wilfred Zaha and Andros Townsend are top players-
Zaha was exceptionally good against Liverpool, he ran Alexander Arnold ragged and scored a beautiful consolation goal.
In the opposite flank, Andros Towsend tormented Andrew Robertson with his pace, power and fantastic link up play. That forced the likes of Sadio Mane and Gini Wijnaldum to drop deep and help him defend.
Palace is a good team and now needs to sign two or three top players to compete for European places.
5. Sadio Mane is a top player and Liverpool need him fit-
Sadio Mane is the only player right now that either scores a goal, provides an assists or wins his team a penalty.. He is a world class player who can decide the outcome of any game.
It doesn't matter if its home or away, Barcelona or West Ham, Mane plays every game with the mindset of winning. Such mindset are required to win the Premier League and Liverpool now have it abundance.
