Manchester United captain Ashley Young will not be joining Inter Milan next summer neither will he be signing a pre-contract agreement with other clubs having be given a one-year contract extension.  Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a huge fan of the 34-year-old and feels his presence at the club will be useful to the younger players in the team.  Although, the decision to keep him at the club haven't gone down well with fan who vented angrily on different social medias.  Some of the tweet reads; "How the might have fallen.. "  Another aggrieved post reads: "The more Man U fans want to escape the more the owners give them pain".  Another reads: "This Ole and Co. are really taking us for granted. You can't be renewing Ashley's contract while there are real loopholes to cover.. it's getting out of hand".  Sad ones goes this way: "Why, just why would you do that? Liverpool 2-1 Crystal: Firmino is no average striker and 5 things we learnt

Image
Another game, another victory, Liverpool have finally discovered how to grind out results even when playing way below average.

Palace were good to watch, they stopped Liverpool's swashbuckling football in the first 15 minutes of play and put them to the sword by scoring the first goal only for VAR {Video Assistant Referee} to choke it off.

The first half might have ended in stalemate but the second half saw Liverpool take the initiative through Sadio Mane whose snap shot evaded everyone and found the back of the net.

Wilfred Zaha did restore parity to keep Palace fans believing but in the dying minute, Firmino scored the winning goal to put Liverpool 2-1 up and eight points clear of Leicester City.

Here are the five things we learnt:

1. Van DIjk is a monster, he is a world class defender-

Where will Liverpool be without Van Dijk? Porbably in 7th place or most likely 10th. He won every aerial ball, tussled with Jordan Ayew and came out on top and was the reason Liverpool scored the winning goal having won the header which Firmino finished.

Van Dijk is top, top defender and Liverpool are really lucky to have him.

2. Jordan Henderson is way off pace and his passes are not too good-

Henderson is a good midfielder who works extremely hard to win back balls and defend with the rest of his teammates. His Achilles heels remains his creativity; we know he is no Steven Gerrard neither is he N'Golo Kante.. But what he offers to this Liverpool team can't be described by words alone. His industry and leadership is top notch and Jurgen Klopp knows this.

He might have struggled with orchestrating the game against Palace but is his game and we have to get used to it.

3. Defensively, Liverpool have to improve-

The Reds have played 13 Premier League games nad only 4 times have managed to keep a clean sheet. They have conceded 14 goals this season compared to 22 they conceded throught out last season.

Defensively, they're vulnerable and need to improve.

4. Crystal Palace is a good team and Wilfred Zaha and Andros Townsend are top players-

Zaha was exceptionally good against Liverpool, he ran Alexander Arnold ragged and scored a beautiful consolation goal.

In the opposite flank, Andros Towsend tormented Andrew Robertson with his pace, power and fantastic link up play. That forced the likes of Sadio Mane and Gini Wijnaldum to drop deep and help him defend.

Palace is a good team and now needs to sign two or three top players to compete for European places.

5. Sadio Mane is a top player and Liverpool need him fit-

Sadio Mane is the only player right now that either scores a goal, provides an assists or wins his team a penalty.. He is a world class player who can decide the outcome of any game.

It doesn't matter if its home or away, Barcelona or West Ham, Mane plays every game with the mindset of winning.  Such mindset are required to win the Premier League and Liverpool now have it abundance.

No Ronaldo, no goals! Real Madrid in self destruct mode as Champions League exit looms

What an impact a single player can make in a team. Real Madrid had that player once in Cristiano Ronaldo, a superstar who single handily created chances and won matches on his own.  He was able to win 14 trophies with Real Madrid did also manage to become the clubs' record goalscorer with 369 goals and assists 114.. He is arguably the greatest player ever to play for Real Madrid but the mistake Los Blancos made was not to find an adequate replacement for the 40 goals per season striker.  Real Madrid are in self destruct mode evident from their present struggle and lack of consistency. This season Madrid haven't won back to back games neither have they scored more than 20 goals this season.  The goalkeeping department is presently in shambles, Thibaut Courtois have conceded nine goals in his last 14 shots. In fact, half of the 24 shots he's faced this season have flown past him. The midfield is decline while the attacker apart from Karim Benzema are not scoring goal...

Napoli ready to sell Lorenzo Insigne to Liverpool for $60m after player mutiny

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has reportedly sanctioned the sell of all his senior players after they bluntly refused to attend a training session scheduled to be held at the Castel Volturno training ground.  The training sesssion was meant to arrest their decline and help them keep pace with Juventus and Inter Milan who are pulling clear of the rest. Napoli are seventh in the Seria A table, 13 points behind Juventus after just 12 games.  The ring leader and captain of the team Lorenzo Insigne is free to leave Napoli this January if any club can offer $60m for his service. Jurgne Klopp is a huge fan of the 28-year-old Italian international and has never hidden his desire to sign him when he is available. Insigne is not the only player available, the likes of Piotr Zielinski, Allan, Kalidou Koulibaly, Callejon and so many more are free to leave this Janaury.

Why an injury to Roberto Firmino could end Liverpool's Premier League title chase

Jurgen Klopp once said Roberto Firmino is the world best striker and he wasn't wrong with that statement. Firmino might not be so prolific, he has something rarely seen in modern strikers.  He presses the opposition relentlessly, link up play intelligently and creates goalscorer chances for others. His on and off ball movement is exceptionally good. His daft touches, feints and close control are so good its reminiscent of Brazil legend Ronaldo Dilma.  What makes him really good his tenacious running and carve a goal-scoring opportunities for his strike partners- Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.  Do you know out of 50 goals Sadio Mane have scored for Liverpool, Firmino have assisted or have a hand in 32 of those goals. And out of the 76 goals Mohamed Salah has scored for Liverpool,  Firmino has assisted 35 of those goals.  Without him, Liverpool would've struggled to win all eight matches this season. Cause frankly, they don't have any other striker that c...

Injury blow: Pep Guardiola confirms Ederson will miss Liverpool clash

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Ederson will miss the trip to Anfield due to any injury..  He will be replaced by Claudio Bravo who he says is a good keeper and a two times Copa America winner with Chile.  Asked during his press conference if Ederson will be fit for the clash, Guardiola said: "He is not able to play tomorrow.  "On Sunday he cannot play. We have another top keeper. We won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup thanks to Claudio. He is an exceptional goalkeeper".  Asked if Manchester City are not vulnerable without Ederson deputizing in-between the sticks, Klopp replied angrily.  "Why should i not be confident about my players and my team? Why do you like ask me this questions? "I see him every day in training. We won't lose from Claudio. You have to respect him. He won the Copa America, respect that guy, he's an incredible goalkeeper".
