5 reasons why Real Madrid is still struggling despite depending £300m this summer

Image
Paris Siant German's 3-0 win over Real Madrid sums up Los Blancos poor recruitment st during the transfer window.

Madrid really struggled to impose themselves, they were bereft of ideas, lacked the intensity to match PSG neither did their star players create anything of note except for two canceled goals.

Everybody expected to see Eden Hazard take the game by the scruff of the neck and win it single-handily for Real Madrid like Cristiano Roanldo consistently did in the past. But, he laboured all day and sight of former Everton man Idris Gueye taking the ball off him infuriated Zinedine Zidane hwo had to substitute him in the 70th minute.

Hazard, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, Jovic and the rest all struggled against PSG and this is why?

1. Real Madrid signed the wrong players and failed to get rid off dead woods-

Madrid might have signed six players in the summer but none of this players can offer the quality needed to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Juventus or even Napoli. Madrid really needs a sporting director who can identify players that can improve Zinedine Zidane squad and not just buying for the sake of buying.

Why spend £170m on Eden Hazard and Jovic and yet struggle to score goals.

2. Eden Hazard is out of shape and out of form-

One of Real Madrid's biggest problem at the moment is Eden Hazard. The 28-year-old is out of shape and not fit enough to be game changer.

Simpoly put, Hazard is too fat and needs to a new training regime to get back to shape. The job of doing that belongs to Madrid's fitness coach Gregory Dupont who must start right away.

If he can get Hazard in shape than Zidane will now be left with getting the best out of him.

3. Real Madrid don't have a reliable midfield-

Madrid decision to sign Paul Pogba or Christian Ericksen is coming back to bite them. One of those players would've provided serious competition for Toni Kroos and Luka Modric who now play with contempt.

Pogba's presence would've forced Kroos and Modric to train harder and work harder for the team knowing that the french man will permanently put them in the bench before they sold off.

4. Madrid's back-line as well as goalkeeper are all average-

Apart from club captain Sergio Ramos, Los Blancos back-line looks average to say the least. Thiabuat have failed to keep a clean sheet in 21 games and have conceded 56 goals in 41 appearances, embarrassing.

As the saying goes: 'Strikers win you games but defenses win you titles', but in the case of Madrid, Carvajal, Eder Militao, Varane and Mendy can't be relied on to win games talk more of trophies. Ramos remains the only dependable defender in Madrid which frankly is not enough.

5. Zinedine Zidane don't have a plan B,C or D-

Zidane might have won 9 trophies in 2 and half years but his game plan was very simply to read. Keep the defense and midfield tight and always, i mean always pass the final ball to Cristiano Ronaldo, he will score. And boy! did Ronaldo score goals..

He is the all Real Madrid top goalscorer with 379 goals and Champions League top scorer with 121 goals. A player of his stature guarantees you goals and trophies.

But Zidane and Madrid's biggest problem now is that Cristiano Ronaldo is gone and no other player can step up and deliver consistently like he did for nine consecutive years.

Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale or even Vinicius Jr are all good players but none of them can guarantee you 40 goals a season which frankly is problem.

28 wins in 34 matches, Anfield is a fortress and 5 things we learnt as Liverpool beat Genk 2-1

Liverpool have topped Group E of the Champions League after beating Genk 2-1 at Anfield.  It was far from a straight forward win as Liverpool did concede a goal and had Alison Becker to thank for making exceptional saves in the final minutes of the match.  The Reds were ahead after Gini Wijnaldum found space inside the 12-yard box and directed a deflected ball into the back of the net. 1-0! and Jurgen Klopp could be seen pumping his fist to the air.  But minutes later, Genk equalized through Samatta whose bullet header flown past Alisson and into the net.. His physical framework was just too much for James Milner to deal with and that resulted to a goal.  For a while if felt like Liverpool were going to drawn the match but up stepped Oxlade Chamberlian who received a delightful pass from Mohamed Salah before turning instinctively and scoring the winning match.  Here are the five things we learnt 1. Oxlade Chamberlian is a born winner-   ...

Silva did get City's consolation goal but he wasn't in the mood to talk about the penalty controversy but rather focused on how Liverpool play, their attacking style and atmosphere in Anfield.  Liverpool are nine points clear of City and 8 points clear of second placed team- Leicester City.  Asked first about the penalty controvers and later about the match, Bernando said:  "I have not seen it yet. You guys should analyse it not me. If i speak i will be in trouble. I don't want to speak. I have not watched it", a defiant Silva replied.  "I think we played one of the best sides in the world, it's never easy in a stadium like Anfield. We had started better than them when we conceded the first goal. First counter, first goal, you cannot give them an inch, because if you do they will take it and score goals".  ...

But a defeat will be catastrophic, Jurgen Klopp and his team will be under immerse pressure from the press who will instantly judge their credibility.  Benitez don't want to see that happen but warns Liverpool against complacency.  "Liverpool are six points clear at the top of the Premier League and they are favourities to win the title. Why Adrian feels he should be Liverpool's no. 1 and not Alisson Becker

For the first time in 10 years, Liverpool have two talented goalkeepers going to head to head for a starting spot.  The first is Alisson Becker who is currently injured after picking up a calf injury in Liverpool's first match of the season. But before his injury, Alisson proved he is a world class keeper by leading Liverpool to their sixth Champions League.  He is the only goalkeeper in history who succeeded in winning the Champions League, Premier League and Copa America best goalkeeper.  He is also UEFA Best Goalkeeper and FIFA World Best Goalkeeper. Alisson is a modern day shot-stopper who combines athleticism with good reflexes, accurate passing and an incredible footwork.  But his injury has paved the way for another to emerge from shadow into the spot light.  Adrain is finally fulfilling his talent and developing quickly into one of world's finest goalkeepers.  With Liverpool, he has won his first ever trophy as a player by keeping Chels...

Yaya Toure reveals what Manchester City must do in January to stop Liverpool's title run

Yaya Toure has called on Pep Guardiola to sign a defender this January and stop playing the likes of Rodrigo and Fernandinho in the back.  Rodrigo and Fernandinho are better suited in the holding midfield role and not the centre backs. City have now lost three games in just 12 games played this season and sit 4th in the Premier League table, 9 points off Liverpool..  Another defeat and they can kiss their chances of winning a third consecutive Premier League title goodbye.  Yaya Toure was asked what he thinks about City and he had this to say: "I think it might be hard {to win the Premier League title again} but in January you have to get a defender", Toure told Sky Sports.  "It's not too late, nothing is too late. When i watch the game i don't want to blame nobody, i don't want to blame Rodrigo, he's a young player and a good player, but i think if Fernandinho was in the middle it would be really important.  "City miss him in there, he ...
