Messi's injuries a warning to Barcelona: 'Its time to plan ahead without the Argentina'

Image
How do you replace a player who scored 50 goals with 28 assists in 51 appearance? Impossible right! Barcelona are in that crucifix of deciding what happens next when Lionel Messi decides his body can no longer carry him and its time he left or, request for more rest than game time.

Messi is 32-years-old but the diminutive Argentina has carried Barcelona on his shoulder for 13 of the last 15 years he has played for them.

He has won them 32 trophies including 4 Champions League trophies and 4 FIFA Club World Cups. He has also scored astonishing 435 goals of which 331 of them were game winners.

There's nothing Lionel Messi haven't done to make Barcelona the biggest club in the world but what the Bluagrana giants have failed to do for themselves is to find another superstar in their academy to replace not just Messi but Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Carlos Puyol or even Sergio Busquet.

Its buy, buy and buy.. Sadly its coming back to hurt them.. The once dependable Messi is now suffering injuries like never seen before in 15 years and its killing the club.

The Argentinian has reached that stage in his career were he has to managed not over played which is a big problem for Barcelona.

Why? If he doesn't play, Barcelona don't win games and in turn don't win trophies.

Messi is the only reliable goalscorer in Barcelona, the only player capable of winning a game single handily. Although Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann have proven over time they're match or title winners but those two are not close to Messi's class. Suarez is 33 while Griezmann is yet to get a grip of Barcelona's tiki-taka football.

The future at Camp Nou is looking bleak at the moment, Barcelona will now have to rely on others and hope it works.

Messi meanwhile will have to sit out more games than envisaged and watch like the rest of us hoping his teammates can at least earn a point or don't get knocked out of cup competitions before he returns to save the day.

Should Manchester City pay £80m for Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu?

Leicester City has reportedly rejected Manchester City's £38m bid to sign their highly rated defender Caglar Soyuncu.  According to the Sun, the foxes want City to up their bid to £80-90m for the 23-year-old Turkish international who they feel possess similar quality to Harry Maguire {£80m} and Virgil van Dijk {£75m}.  Soyuncu is without doubt a top football who is growing in strength and stature under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers. But with City struggling in their defensive unit due to injuries to their top defenders Aymeric Laporte and John Stones, the need to sign a defender is now a priority.  But signing Soyuncu for £80m looks too desperate and a to many a complete waste of money.  So should City sign him for £80m or less?

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara can see Harry Kane joining a title winning team in no distant future..  Roy Keane might have suggested Manchester United sign the England captain but O'Hara feels Kane will go to a more established club where he can start winning trophies and not a club a struggling club. Liverpool is also an attractive option but they've to prove this season they're good enough to compete with Manchester City on the domestic fronts.  Speaking to talkSPORT, O'Hara said: "I think if he is going to go it's going to be Man City; it's only Man City, for me, who can probably get him.  "Aguero is coming to the end and Jesus is a different type of player, so if they are to get somebody it would be Harry Kane. But does he want to leave Tottenham? And can they let him go? I don't think they can".
